Mark J. Alonso
Mark attended the Fordham University School of Law, graduating in 1980. He is admitted to the New York State and Federal Bar. He was Writing & Research Editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal and published a Comment entitled Environmental Law: Federal Pre-emption and the Commerce Clause, 6 Fordham Urb. L.J. 649 (1979).
In 1979 and 1980, he was the research assistant to then-Dean (now United
States Circuit Court Judge) Joseph M. McLaughlin in his redrafting of his
Practice Commentaries to Articles 60 to 77 of McKinney's Civil Practice Law and
Rules. Since 1981, Mr. Alonso has actively practiced law, focusing in the fields of commercial litigation, commercial real estate litigation, securities litigation, general corporate and business practice, constitutional law, zoning, matrimonial law and domestic relations. He has argued numerous appeals, and performed innumerable jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations in all areas.
Mr. Alonso has appeared on all local news stations with respect to the firm's newsworthy cases and has appeared as a commentator on Fox Newschannel and Court TV with respect to various issues.
Manoj R. Andalkar
Manoj has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley College in Waltham, MA and began his career in the Banking industry where he gained extensive mortgage, real estate and finance experience. Mr. Andalkar attended Law School in Boston, MA at the New England School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate. Mr. Andalkar is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bars and is admitted to practice in the Federal Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
Mr. Andalkar is a commercial and real estate litigator who has appeared before various arbitration forums and the civil courts in New York and New Jersey. Moreover, Mr. Andalkar has written numerous appellate briefs and appeared before the appellate courts.
Mr. Andalkar is also proficient at guiding and closing various commercial and non-commercial transactions such as the purchase and sale of businesses, real estate, and various other personal property and also has specific experience in preparing and/or reviewing various agreements including, various types of Contracts, Shareholders Agreements, Employment Agreements, Subscription/Option Agreements, Non-Competition/Confidentiality Agreements, etc.
Joan Toro
Ms. Toro graduated from New York University
in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and earned her Juris
Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2000.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Toro worked for the office of the General
Counsel of Major League Baseball Properties, Inc.
From 1998 to 1999, Ms. Toro interned with the Hon. Cornelius Blackshear
in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York and the
United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
Ms. Toro's practice focuses on the following: commercial and civil litigation, zoning, constitutional law,
personal injury defense and construction litigation.
Her experience includes appearing before state and federal courts in New York State,
as well as proceedings before administrative and regulatory agencies.
In addition, she has experience in all aspects of dispute resolution,
including negotiation, mediation and arbitration.
Ms. Toro is admitted to practice in the State of
New York and before the U.S. District Courts
for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
She is presently a member of New York State Bar Association, Cardozo
Women's Law Association and the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens.
Ms. Toro is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Italian.
Catania T. Facher
Catania
received her Bachelor's Degree from University of Miami. She received her Juris
Doctorate from Brooklyn School of Law. Ms. Facher has interned with the National
Labor Relations Board as well as clerked for the National Labor Relations
Board-Judges' Division. Ms. Facher came to the firm with a background in labor and employment law, secondary source lending, real estate matters, and banking. She has also worked in the areas of finance, real estate, and foreclosure at McCabe, Weisberg & Conway. She is licensed to practice in New York State, as well as the District Courts for both the Eastern and Southern District of New York.
Ms. Facher is fluent in Spanish and Japanese. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers' Association.
Erin Mac Avoy
Erin graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and earned her Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law in 2004, where she served as Associate Managing Editor of the New York International Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mac Avoy worked in the areas of matrimonial and family law, personal injury litigation and interned with the Hon. Elaine Jackson Stack, J.S.C. in the Nassau County Supreme Court. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Eugene L. Small
Gene L. Small focuses his practice on broker-dealer
related securities litigation. Gene had a 20-year career on Wall Street as a
lawyer and branch manager for some of the nation's top brokerage firms,
including Shearson Lehman Brothers, Oppenheimer and Bear Stearns. He has
substantial experience providing counsel in matters involving all facets of
retail brokerage, as well as clearing disputes, regulatory matters and
investment banking disputes.
Mr. Small holds various securities licenses
including the Series 7, 63, 8 & 65.
Mr. Small has extensive experience handling securities related retail
and institutional arbitrations and has overseen outside counsel, advised retail
branch management and represented brokerage firms, brokers, branch managers and
principals before all of the self-regulatory organizations, the New York State
Attorney General's office and the SEC in both arbitrations and regulatory
proceedings.
Mr. Small was a former prosecutor in the
Manhattan District Attorney's Office and obtained over 100 felony indictments
and 15 felony convictions after trial during his tenure. Gene also has
significant civil trial experience and has tried well over 100 securities
arbitrations in more than 25 cities nationwide, including several multi-million
dollar securities arbitration claims before the Financial Industry Regulatory
Authority.
Mr. Small attended New England School of Law (J.D., 1982) and
State University of New York College at Buffalo (B.S., 1976). Professional
Admissions include State of New York, United States District Court for the
Eastern District of New York, United States District Court for the Southern
District of New York, and United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Small is a member of the State of New York Bar.

Cari A. Lewis
Cari graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies, minoring in Marketing and graduating with University Honors. She subsequently attended New York Law School, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in 2006. Licensed to practice in New York State, Ms. Lewis is a member of the New York County Lawyers' Association and the American Bar Association.
Justin A. Goldberg
Justin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Touro Law Center, where he graduated with
cum laude honors. In addition, he served as a member of the Touro Law Review and published a purview of a New York State case with Federal and State due process implications entitled, People v. DeJesus, 23 TOURO L. REV 505 (2007).
Mr. Goldberg has clerked for the Honorable Ute Wolff Lally in the Nassau County Supreme Court, and has interned for the Nassau County District Attorney's Office and the United States Attorney's Office (E.D.N.Y.). Mr. Goldberg is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
Yana Kromo
Ms. Kromo graduated from University of Florida in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kromo worked for a boutique firm in Brickell, Florida focusing on complex litigation and insurance defense. Ms. Kromo is licensed to practice in Florida and New York. She is an active member of the American Trial Lawyer Association.
Ms. Kromo was born in Odessa, Ukraine and is proficient in Russian.
Lauren R. Fox
In 2005, Ms. Fox
graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Law from University College
Cork, Ireland. In 2006, she graduated cum laude with an LLM from Trinity College
Dublin, where she specialized in European Law and International Business Law.
Then, in 2009, she graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law
with an LLM in Banking, Corporate and Finance Law. Between 2006 and 2008, Ms.
Fox taught an Introduction to Law Module in Trinity College, Dublin. She also
has prior experience in defamation, corporate and complex torts law.
Ms. Fox has sat on the ABCNY committee for
Antitrust and Trade Regulation since early 2009. She is an active member of the
New York City Bar Association and the Irish Bar Association of New York. She is
fluent in Irish and French.
Ross D. Carmel
Ross received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of
Buffalo, where he was President of the Iota Chapter of Phi Delta Theta
Fraternity. He then attended Touro Law center on a merit scholarship,
where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree. Licensed to practice in New York
State, Mr. Carmel is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and Phi
Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. As an associate at Alonso, Andlakar, Toro,
Facher & Mac Avoy, Mr. Carmel has received a broad range of experience,
particularly in the area of securities litigation. He has represented both
brokers and broker dealers in cases ranging from reneges on Initial Public
Offerings to brokers looking to recoup commissions earned from their previous
employers.
Erin E. Breen
Erin
graduated with cum laude honors from the College of the Holy Cross in
2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Middle
Eastern Studies. She earned her
Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston,
Massachusetts
in 2009. Ms. Breen is admitted to
practice law in the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
During law school, Ms. Breen served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Gary
S. Katzmann of the Massachusetts Appeals Court in Boston, Massachusetts.
Ms. Breen also interned for the United
States Attorney's Office, Civil Division, in Boston,
Massachusetts and the Legal Aid Society of New
York, Criminal Defense Division, in Kew
Gardens, New York.
Prior to joining the firm in October
2009, Ms. Breen was a summer associate at Dreier LLP.
Ms. Breen is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York City Bar
Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and
Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.
